31 OCT - LETS MAKE SOME HOOKS: WORKSHOP ON INTERACTING WITH MAX/MSP USING ANYTHING AROUND YOU
A 1-day workshop by Peter Segerstrom breaking through the boundaries of the MIDI protocol and exploring approaches to translate our direct environments to sound.

New developments in music technology have always expanded the toolset of those working in the field of live-electronics. In the past couple of years, several technologies have emerged that allows for the intricate data communication streams to take place between audio programming languages an the outside world.

31 OCT - HELLO WORLD, MEET ROSA!
STEIM invites you to a new launch event where we announce our next generation software for live sampling: RoSa, short for Real-time OSC controlled Sampling. Goodbye LiSa, hello RoSa!

RoSa is based on the awesome sounding engine of LiSa, which it replaces and builds upon, but it is much more flexible and versatile. It’s a small application, but it features a client-server architecture so it enables a multitude of scenarios. RoSa itself is the server—it can be configured and controlled by sending OSC messages, which means it can be used in many kinds of configurations. Any source can send it OSC data. Clients like Lemur, junXion, Max, or PD will be responsible for live control and for RoSa’s user interface.

19–20 NOV - COMPLEX DYNAMICAL (ECO-) SYSTEMS BASED ON NONLINEAR FEEDBACK NETWORKS
2-day workshop by Dario Sanfilippo discussing complex dynamical feedback systems for human-machine interaction performance, autonomous sound installations and non-conventional sound synthesis.

In this workshop the complex dynamical feedback systems for human-machine interaction performance, autonomous sound installations and non-conventional sound synthesis will be discussed and put to practice. The workshop will be divided into two main parts:

First, a theoretical part in which Dario Sanfilippo will talk about the properties of feedback systems from a systemic and cybernetic perspective within the framework of emergent and complex phenomena, along with theoretical concepts related to such an approach for creative practices.

In the second part, he will present some of his works and techniques and such systems will be implemented through the Pure Data programming environment trying to give the possibility to each participant to personalise their own systems. During the implementation process, technical and theoretical aspects of the techniques used will also be discussed.
